It has seemed that so far the weather has been cooperating with the yatris to an extent that’s almost uncanny. Once again this afternoon there was a massive rainstorm and for a while it seemed that the 4pm afternoon start from Adoni would be affected.
But as per usual, the rainstorms subsided just on time as the yatris began their walk to Arekal Village. It was a walk mostly under pleasant weather conditions, made better by the enthusiastic Adoni crowds who sent off the Yatris on their way. Just for example, we met little Raviraj who was marching on the spot to emulate the Bharat Jodo Yatra marching band passing by. It’s a picture better seen than written about.

And sometimes we also meet passionate individuals who while supportive of the #BharatJodoYatra are also interested in helping the Congress do better. We met Murukundu who wants to meet Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, “ I’m a fan,” he said, “But I want to tell Rahul that Congress needs to become more proactive in Andhra. We agree Mr. Murukundu, and the Yatra is part of that initiative.
Murukundu, believes in the Yatra but says that the Congress should do more in Andhra Pradesh
The Bharat Jodo Yatra is a five month, 3500 kilometre long padyatra from Kanyakumari in the South of India to Kashmir up in the North. It is part of the party’s national mass outreach program aimed at highlighting social polarisation, economic inequalities and political centralisation.
